MEDA and their operating partner, Digital Workforce Education Society, have established partnerships with Illinois state agencies, education institutions, community based organizations and civic groups. One such partnership is with the Dell Computer Printer Charity Donation Program provided through MEDA's affiliation with Gifts In Kind. MEDA, Digital Workforce Education, Olive Harvey College, a City Colleges of Chicago, and the Peoples Resource Center in Wheaton, Illinois are partners in distributing Dell reconditioned printers to eligible Illinois K-12 schools and community based non profits.
Facilities at Olive Harvey College on Chicago's Southside were managed by Digital Workforce Education Society, an affiliate of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity's Small Business Development Centers. MEDA is a 25 year old Illinois non profit social services organization located in Chicago’s Near Westside Pilsen Community with 60,000 members. We provide the following services to a large population of Illinois residents:
• Assistance to Chicago area Hispanics and Mexicans in obtaining legal status within the U.S. so they can secure better jobs and improve their economic condition,
• Working with Latino parents and teachers to improve the rate of Latino High School graduates,
• A food bank program that serves over 250 families a week,
• Insuring Latinos are aware of government programs that can benefit them and their families, including medical services, counseling, financing and education scholarships,
• Encouraging Latino Entrepreneurs to establish their own businesses through mentoring relationships with experienced business professionals,
• Technology access at M.E.D.A.'s Pilsen Community Technology Center including computer repair training and computer literacy training. Our trainees are provided free refurbished computers upon completion of their basic and intermediate training,
• Conducting MONEY $MART, Financial Literacy training in partnership with Chicago Banks where Hispanic immigrants learn how to open bank accounts and access a variety of US financial service.
